Ag Committee to Hold Global Warming Hearing

Senate is jumping back into action after recess.

The Chairman of the Senate Ag Committee, Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has released preliminary plans to hold a hearing entitled "Global Warming Legislation: Agricultural Producer Perspectives and Trading Regulation under a Cap and Trade System". The hearing will explore the impact climate change legislation could have on certain agriculture-related issues.

The committee will hear from three panels, the first two will examine how best to regulate markets in a cap-and-trade system and the third will look to better understand producer group perspectives on global warming legislation. This will be the Committee's second hearing on climate change legislation.

The Committee will meet Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 10:00 a.m in the Hart Senate Office Building.
