Students pursuing careers in agriculture can now apply for the 2010 Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship to receive a $1,500 award on behalf of Monsanto and the National Association of Farm Broadcasting.
Monsanto and NAFB will award $150,000 in scholarships to 100 high school seniors from across the United States for recognition of their academic achievement and leadership in agriculture.
Applications are available online at www.monsanto.com or www.ffa.org. Online applications must be submitted by February 15, 2010, and an application signature page must be postmarked by February 22, 2010.
To qualify for the scholarship program, high school seniors are required to come from a farm family, plan to enroll as a full-time student in an agriculture-related academic major in an accredited school and be committed to pursuing a career in agriculture. Applicants are also evaluated on their academic record, leadership, extracurricular activities and personal essays submitted as a part of the application process.
An impartial selection committee of agricultural educators and industry leaders, administered through the National FFA Organization, will choose award recipients. Winners will be notified no later than June 2010.
