Biodiesel Tax Extension Remains Stalled

However forward progress is being made in the Senate.

At least some of the controversy has been removed from a bill that would cover an extension of the biodiesel tax. The U.S. Senate on Friday passed a six-month "doc fix" bill by voice vote after extracting it from the larger tax and benefits package that has been stalled for months. The larger bill contains the biodiesel tax extension.

Thursday night Senate Democrats gained only 56 of the 60 votes needed to advance the full bill. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says the latest version adds $50 billion to the nation's debt, which is a major sticking point for a number of Senators.
