Disaster Assistance Meetings for Farmers in Tornado Areas

Meetings next week focus on how assistance is available to producers.

Disaster Assistance will be the topic at meetings scheduled for farmers and ranchers affected by the May 4th tornado and subsequent storms.

Representatives from Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Risk Management Agency, Rural Development, Extension Service, Kansas Rural Family Helpline, FEMA, Kiowa County Disaster Volunteer Coordinator, and others will meet with producers to discuss assistance available for financial, production, and physical losses received from the May 4th tornado and subsequent storms.

Affected counties are Edwards, Kiowa, Pratt, Stafford, and the contiguous counties of Barber, Barton, Clark, Comanche, Ford, Hodgeman, Kingman, Pawnee, Reno, and Rice.

Producers are encouraged to attend one of these meetings:

  • Tuesday, May 22, 7:00 p.m., Macksville, High School Gym.
  • Wednesday, May 23, 7:00 p.m., Haviland, High School Auditorium.
  • Thursday, May 24, 7:00 p.m., Kinsley, Fair Building.

Kansas State University's Cooperative Extension Service will sponsor these meetings. If you have questions, contact your local Extension office or USDA Service Center.
