While it sounds like a federal Stimuli Package deal, it's not. Pennsylvania milk producers who are not currently doing comprehensive cash flow projection and business budgeting should apply for a $1,500 grant. You'll need to do it by May 1.
The grant from Pennsylvania's Center for Dairy Excellence aims to help producers interested in receiving professional assistance in cash flow analysis and business budgeting. Forty grants are being made available as an initiative of the Pennsylvania Dairy Task Force's Business Management Committee.
Available on a first-come, first-served basis, and pending approval, the funds must be used to employ professional services to do comprehensive cash flow projections, production costs analysis, dairy business budgeting and business restructuring. All applications must be submitted by May 1.
Grant recipients must participate in a two-hour training course about business management resources available. The course, offered in a conference-call setting, will update producers on the help available from the center's Dairy Profit Team Program, Penn State Dairy Alliance's PA Dairy Tool, and financial support offered through the Center for Farm Transitions and PAgrows.
Applications are available on the Dairy Excellence Web site at www.centerfordairyexcellence.org, or by calling the center at 717-346-0849.
