Show promoter promises 500 exhibitors, seminars, sprayer demonstrations and horse training sessions.

Great Bend is gearing up for its first ever Farm and Ranch Expo April 11-13. The 3i Show, which for several years alternated between Great Bend and Garden City, is building new, permanent headquarters in Dodge City.

Show promoter Darren Dale says the Great Bend Expo will feature more than 500 exhibitors from three countries. Attendees will have the chance to win more than $5,000 in exhibitor prizes and giveaways.

"The idea for an annual farm show created specifically around the assets Great Bend has to offer isn't a new idea. We just had a great opportunity in 2011 to make it happen with the help of our new promoter," show committee chair Jan Westfall says. "Our fabulous facility with three large buildings, a brand new loading dock in a central location, and two entrance roads for easy spectator and exhibitor flow all work together to make Great Bend the ideal site for an agriculturally based show like this."

Other improvements to the show include updated bathrooms in the expo buildings and a new exhibitor layout that will fill both runways for the first time in years. "There will be over 80 acres of exhibit space in total," Dale says. "Because of the expansive facility, we also have room to bring in some one-of-a-kind demonstrations from names people will recognize."

Scott Daily, a well-known horse trainer, will provide horse training demonstrations at several junctures throughout the three-day show. Daily has been around horses most of his life, beginning with his 4-H roots in his hometown of Inola, Oklahoma. After over 15 years of horse training, he has developed and perfected his own techniques which he will demonstrate to show spectators.

The show will feature sprayer demonstrations at 1 p.m. each day at the east end of the south runway. Demonstrations will include the newest sprayers available on the market, and close-up looks at how each machine works, including application techniques. Seating and audio are being provided.

For the ranchers at the show, national champion bull rider Cooper Kanngiesser will be signing autographs in the American Hat Company booth on April 11th.

The Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo is sponsored by KSN and the American Hat Company, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 11th and 12th, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 13th.
