Rep. Jerry Moran will hold his 10th annual conservation tour next Monday (Sept. 20) with stops in Douglas, Wabaunsee, Geary and Riley Counties. The tour is a way to learn more about conservation efforts in Kansas.
This year's tour will focus on several federal programs that help the Kansas livestock industry engage in conservation practices, including the Conservation Reserve Program, the Environmental Quality Incentrives Program, the Farm and Ranch Land Protection Program, the Grasslands Reserve Program and the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program. Smoke management during rangeland burning will also be discussed.
Dave White, Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Washington, D.C. will be a special guest on this year's tour. Other guests will be congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, state conservationist Eric Banks and Kansas State Farm Service Agency Executive Director Adrian Polansky.
