Congressman Jerry Moran was recently honored by Pheasants Forever for the Conservation Leadership Award for his efforts in furthering wildlife conservation initiatives in the most recent Farm Bill.
"Pheasants Forever has done an excellent job of creating greater awareness and expanding participation in our nation's heritage of outdoor sports such as upland bird hunting" Moran said. "Their efforts have also had a strong impact on conservation, land use, land access and wildlife habitat management. I appreciated the opportunity to work with Pheasants Forever on 'Open Fields' in order to provide greater access to hunting areas for sportsmen throughout the country."
"Congressman Moran has been recognized for his support of conservation in the Farm Bill, particularly for his work on the 'Open Fields' provision," said Dave Nomsen, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Vice President. "That support helped to further the wildlife legacy of a wide array of conservation programs. Additionally, his leadership created new conservation tax incentives, as well as new acres open to hunters through the new 'Open Fields' access provision."
Five U.S. Senators and seven U.S. Representatives were honored by Pheasants Forever for their conservation efforts. Congressman Moran has been selected for the Conservation Leadership Award for supporting strong conservation provisions in the Farm Bill's Conservation Title.
