Students enrolled in 7th through 12th grade are eligible to enter the National Ag Day Essay Contest. The winner receives $1000, a trip to Washington, D.C., and recognition during the Celebration of Ag Dinner on March. 12. This year's theme is "Agriculture - Every Day in Every Way." The theme highlights the importance of agriculture in everyone's lives. From the clothes you wear to the food you eat, agriculture is a part of every day for everyone. Though row crops and livestock are still very much a part of the foundation of the industry, agriculture today has multiple touch points in our daily lives and offers many career opportunities. Students are asked to write an original essay of 450 words about the importance of agriculture.
The deadline for entries is Feb. 9. Each statewide winner will receive $100. Complete contest rules and application forms are available at www.nafb.com.
