New Line of Beef Products in Dillons Stores

A new line of beef products are being marketed in 71 Dillons stores across Kansas under a "Sealed for Freshness" label.

The promotion, sponsored by the Kansas Beef Council and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, was launched Sept. 26 and includes six beef cuts: flat iron, thin sliced beef steak, top sirloin, skirt steak, flank steak and tenderloin.

The new package is similar to the Cryovac packaging earlier used for flat iron steak provides a cleaner, easier to handle package with a longer shelf life than traditional packaging.

The product can go directly from refrigerator to freezer without being re-wrapped. The thin sliced beef steak comes from the shoulder clod and is similar in texture to a sirloin. It can be used for sandwiches, stir-fry recipes and pizza toppings.

Radio advertising, in-store labeling and sales materials and a manager contest in Wichita and Topeka were paid for with Beef Checkoff dollars.
