Nominations are now open for the Governor's Exporter of the Year Award for 2014, the 26th annual installment of the award.
The award honors a single Kansas business for excellence in international trade and marketing and is announced during Business Appreciation Month in June.
Criteria for consideration in picking the winning company include how many jobs were created by adding exports to the company's marketing plan, what type of innovations were employed to take advantage of global marketing, how many countries are importers of the products, how well the company uses international distributors, what kind of plan is in place to assure future growth, the commitment the company has to the local area, general promotional materials and activities and participation trade shows or international expositions.
Exporting important for Kansas economy
"Exporting is critical to a strong Kansas economy," said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. "Businesses that are competitive in international markets create good manufacturing jobs for Kansas workers. It's important to recognize the outstanding work of Kansas exporters and their contributions to our economy."
Any individual or organization can nominate a business. Businesses can also nominate themselves for consideration for the award.
