Vintage Saturday Is Back At 3i Show

Daily display of antique tractors; Saturday displays from Kansas Antique Racers and the American Truck Historical Society.

Vintage Saturday is coming back to the 3i Show this year at its new location on permanent showgrounds in Dodge City. In addition, there will be a daily display of antique tractors at the show, which opens July 12 and runs through July 14.

George and LaDonna Brown are bringing up to ten antique John Deere and International tractors from their personal collection to be displayed daily.  George and LaDonna have been collecting and restoring tractors for the past 16 years.  They enjoy taking their tractors to various tractor shows across the Midwest from Oklahoma to Nebraska.

LaDonna says "It's a lot of work, but it's something we enjoy, and we just take them and go have fun."  The Browns particularly enjoy the tractor games at the shows.

Vintage Saturday, July 14th, brings displays by both the Kansas Antique Racers and Wheat State Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society.  The KAR currently supports uncaged sprints, caged sprints, supermodifieds, modifieds, rails, track roadsters, jalopies, and midgets and will have 10-12 race cars on display.

Also displayed will be Darrell Wark's 1947 Ford N2 drag-racing tractor featured in Hot Rod Magazine.  In addition, the KAR display will include Roger Burnett's replica of the 1914 Flying Merkel to promote the 100th anniversary of the Dodge City 300 to be held in Dodge City July 4, 2014.  The Dodge City 300, often referred to as the Indianapolis of Motorcycles, was an international motorcycle race held in Dodge City from 1914 to 1921 in which motorcycle factories were directly involved.  Over 17,000 people were in Dodge City for the first race in 1914.  For more information about the KAR, visit www.kansasantiqueracers.com.

The American Truck Historical Society is about 40 years old and was founded to preserve the history of trucks, the trucking industry and its pioneers.  The Wheat State Chapter of the ATHS was organized in 2003 and currently has about 65 members which, between them, own and drive a wide range of antique and classic trucks.  Approximately 20 trucks from the Wheat State Chapter will be on display.  For more information about the ATHS, visit www.aths.org.

Watch for the early arrival of your July Kanas Farmer to learn more about what there will be to see and do at the 3i Show.
