Wichita Falls Farm and Ranch Expo is March 4, 5

Cattle handling, horse training demonstrations on tap; live bull show and sale will be part of show.

The Wichita Falls Farm and Ranch Expo is March 4 and 5 at the JS Bridwell Agricultural Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 4th and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 5th.

Show owner Darren Dale says the show will feature 400 vendors from 27 states and Australia, in over 175,000 square feet of exhibit space. Prizes and giveaways this year will total more than $5,000. Admission and parking are free.

Dr. Ron Gill will present a cattle handling demonstration on Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by live bull evaluations. Gill is professor and Extension livestock specialist for Texas AgriLife Extension. In addition, he serves as Associate Department Head and Program Leader for Extension animal science faculty.

Gill provides leadership in extension programming related to animal well-being and low-stress livestock handling and assists in providing leadership to statewide programming efforts for Beef Safety and Quality Assurance programming.

The popular Scott Daily Horse Training Demonstrations are also back this year. They will held at the expo both days this year. Scott has been around horses most of his life. His love for horses and desire to train them began in  4-H while he was growing up in Inola, Okla. Scott started training horses about 18 years ago. After many years of working with challenging colts and horses, Scott has developed and perfected his own techniques.

Mounted shooting demonstrations will be one of the many things to see while at the expo this year.

A live production bull sale will be held again this year. There will be 30 or more lots of high quality breeding bulls selling. The production bull sale will be held again on Thursday, March 5 in the JS Bridwell arena at 1:00 p.m.
