An updated report from the National Corn Growers Association detailing statistics about U.S. corn production, facts about corn and historical comparisons is now available online, the group said Monday.
The "World of Corn" report, a statistical look at the domestic and global corn industry, features a wide array of information on corn production and usage.
In addition to the traditional statistics guide, this year's distribution included two compendium pieces which discuss ethanol and biotechnology.
The report shows that U.S. corn farmers surpassed many records in 2014, growing the largest crop on record, at 14.2 billion bushels, with a record national average yield of 171.0 bushels per acre.
"America's corn farmers worked tirelessly in 2014 to grow a record crop," NCGA President Chip Bowling and CEO Chris Novak note in the report's introduction. "The unparalleled abundance has positive implications for every American. From a driver filling up a car to a shopper buying wholesome, nutritious for a family, the incredible innovation in American agriculture improves lives across the country."
World of Corn is offers details on corn exports and consumption in a readable format, comparing numbers and trends across the years.
The World of Corn online format offers improved navigability with an elegant user interface, NCGA says. A digital version of both the E+ ethanol and BIO+ biotechnology brochures are also available with the World of Corn report.
This year's publication, which was co-sponsored by Monsanto, was distributed in select Farm Futures publications and at the 2015 Commodity Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.
A special edition of the World of Corn featuring statistics in metric measurements will be released soon, NCGA said.
