In the continuing war against resistant, and tough, weeds, Bayer CropScience plans to offer growers a new tool for 2015 - DiFlexx herbicide. The new corn herbicide will offer flexibility for a range of application, and it's going to be available pending regulatory approvals.
DiFlexx herbicide is a blend of dicamba and Crop Safety Innovation Safener Technlogy (CSI) enabling corn plants to withstand herbicidal activity and provides crop safety. With the liquid formulation, DiFlexx will have a wide window of application - from burndown to V10. And the product can control tough weeds including Palmer amaranth, lambsquarters and waterhemp. It also targets more than 100 annual and perennial weeds, including those resistant to PPO-, ALS-inibiitors, and glyphosate.
With CSI Safener technology, Bayer CropScience reports it an improve soil and foliar uptake of plants, and DiFlexx can be applied to all soil types making it applicable for silage, white corn, seed corn and popcorn crops. The company also notes DiFlexx can be combined with methylated seed oil or crop oil concentrate for improved weed control when compared to non-safened dicamba.
When applied as a preemergence herbicide, DiFlexx will safen amide products applied in the same tank mix. When applied postemergence, DiFlexx can be tankmixed with other postemerge products such as Capreno or Laudis, offering growers more modes of action to control herbicide-resistant weeds. If you have questions about DiFlexx call 866-99-BAYER (866-992-2937).
