FMC Corporation announced a new herbicide for soybeans today. The product, called Authority First DF, uses dual modes of action for weed control.
The product, available in a dry flowable formulation for preemergence use, can help against glyphosate-resistant broadleafs.
"Soybean growers have used glyphosate for years as part of their Roundup Ready® soybean weed management program," says Aaron Locker, an FMC product manager. "Now many of these growers are rotating into Roundup Ready corn, further increasing the likelihood of glyphosate-resistance buildup."
"Authority First gives soybean growers an economical way to fight glyphosate-resistant weeds and get started each season with a clean field to help young soybean plants get off to the best start possible," Locker says.
The product can be mixed with other pre-plant herbicides for a broader spectrum of weed control. Authority First can be applied pre-plant up to three days after planting, via shallow incorporation or pre-emergence in no-till, minimum till or conventionally tilled soybean acres.
