Farmers can apply online at www.growcommunities.com or by calling 877-267- 3332 to obtain an application for the America's Farmers Grow Communities awards project.
To be eligible, farmers must be age 21 and over, actively engaged in farming a minimum of 250 acres of corn, soybeans and/or cotton, 40 acres of open field vegetables or at least 10 acres of tomatoes, peppers and/or cucumbers grown in protected culture.
This year's application program ends July 31. In Kansas, one winner will be chosen from each of the state's 67 participating counties. Winning farmers and the organizations they supported will be chosen in August.
