Rains Help, Drought Lingers

Drought warnings and watches in effect for 11 counties.

Recent rains have helped, but southwest Kansas is still in the grip of drought.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has issued drought warnings and watches for 11 counties that remain in moderate to severe drought on the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Drought warnings are in effect for Grant, Morton, Stanton and Stevens counties.

Drought watches are in effect for Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Kearnty, Meade, Seward and Wichita counties.
