Residue Alliance Plans Summer Farm Tour

Sign up by Friday to tour Barber County farms participating in the South Central Kansas Residue Alliance effort.

The South Central Kansas Residue Alliance will partner with the Kansas Natural Resources Conservation Service in to offer the 2010 Summer Farm Tour on Aug. 26 in Barber County. The Barber County Conservation District is the tour host.

The tour will leave from the South Barber High School in Kiowa at 2:30 p.m..  The plan is to tour on bus, several local producer farms in southeast Barber County and returned to the school ofr a catered meal and short program. Tom Clayman from Kauffman Seeds Inc. will lead a discussion on cover crops.

Also on the program will be Laura Kessler, FSA/CED Barber Co. and Caleb Papenhausen, Biologist for Pheasants Forever, discussing the current Conservation Reserve Program and Signup.
