The International Plant Nutrition Institute this week released a new video animation explaining how farmers make decisions while adhering to the 4R model – applying the Right source at the Right rate, Right time, and Right place – to minimize greenhouse gas emissions resulting from their nitrogen fertilizer applications.
4R Nutrient Stewardship is one of IPNI’s core strategies to support agriculture’s ability to meet the world’s production needs in a sustainable manner, the group says. 4R Nutrient Stewardship also considers economic, social, and environmental dimensions of nutrient management.
In addition to the new video, IPNI offers other educational manuals and materials on the 4R system on the IPNI website.
